Liberty University girls’s basketball participant Asia Todd introduced Friday she was transferring from the college over “racial insensitivities proven inside management and tradition” of the college.
Todd, a sophomore, posted the announcement on her Twitter account whereas carrying a Black Lives Matter T-shirt. Tod didn’t seem to have an issue with any of her coaches moderately declaring that conduct by her college leaders do “not align with my ethical compass or private convictions.”
Todd known as the choice “greater than basketball.”
The participant’s determination got here after Liberty President Jerry Falwell Jr. apologized for a tweet, saying he was “adamantly opposed” to Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam’s masks mandate to cease the coronavirus “till I made a decision to design my very own.”
Falwell accompanied the tweet with an image of an individual in blackface and one other in Ku Klux Klan outfit. The image appeared on Northam’s medical yearbook web page, which sparked a scandal final 12 months.
Falwell later apologized and mentioned he deleted the tweet.
